Bucs go to Buffalo |
I'm a little dissappointed in my running game, and it seems Carr still can't see LBRs. Got a chance to play some rookies and liked what I saw. Both RTs did a good job pass protecting even when I didn't give them help, and were not any worse blocking for the run than the rest of my line.
Paul Smith started off rocky throwing an INT on his first pass but settled down for a couple of decent drives.
Chris Marky fumbled on his first carry, but looks promising.
My defense as always is dominated by my linebackers. Not much has changed on that side of the ball.
As soon as I figure out how to post a gamelog without it looking like crap I'll stick it up here. |

Coach Kargen Debut in Tampa Bay |
Coach Kargen is seems has brought his own brand of Chaos into the FCN. Insiders say coach Kargen known for putting together defenses spent 80% of his time since coming to Tampa Bay working on the offense only to scrap the entire playbook and scheme just hours before gametime. Carr was heard to say after the game it reminded him of playground days when plays were drawn in the dirt. We didn't have time to learn the new system so coach would just tell me hand the ball off to Johnson and tell him to run left somewhere. On passing downs he would say send everybody on some short route except send one guy outside long. It really showed out there today that we had no real plan in place.
This shows true in the stats as well. At the end of the first half the Bucs had only six yards rushing. Were it not for some breaks on special teams and the defense getting turnovers this game could have easily been a disaster.
As it turns out the Bucs get the win in what best can be described as mediocre offensive effort helped by weather and opponant turnovers.
One fan commented on the first effort put forth by the Kargen lead Bucs team saying, "even a blind squirrel eventually can find a nut".
Coach Kargen after the game admitted that the offense looked rough, but overall what matters is the win. He then promised to have a coherent and working offensive plan in for week two. Smiling he quipped, "no more winging it by the seat of my pants"!
He then pointed out the Panthers have one of the toughest defenses in the league to run against even in the best of circumstances and is proud of his team for getting him this first win.
This one is behind us and now we look to prepare for week two. |
