Loss on OT kickreturn |
The Cowboys played the most frustrating, boring, madenn-ing game in the history of the WORLD this week. With Tebow out backup Rudy Carpenter would be getting his chance to show what he can do. And he showed us alright. With only TWO completions in the first half for a grand total of 18 TOTAL passing yards. But he did have his fun. At one point in the game he threw an INT. When we got the ball back he took sacks on the first two plays and then dumped the ball off to the RB running out to the flat. Problem was the RB had not yet turned around. The ball struck him in the back and was ruled a fumble. And of cours the Eagles recovered.
So we took Carpenter out at half time. Jonathan Stewart played very well and if it was not for the running game we would have shattered the record for punts in one game. Stewart broke tackles and run all over the field. Chris Leak came in and to make it more intesting he threw every pass with his LEFT hand. Of cours we all know that Leak is RIGHT handed. We will have to check to see if maybe Carpenter is a natural Lefty because he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. ( A really BIG barn)
But because of the running game the Cowboys managed to come back and actually pull ahead late in the 4th QTR. We last scored the go ahead FG with about 3:30 left in the game. This was too much time. The Eagles got into FG range and tied the game with about 30 seconds left. Not wanted to throw the game winning INT the Cowboys ran out the clock to take it to Overtime.
Everybody knows the most important thing in overtime is to win the coin toss. The Cowboys did that. On the opening kick in overtime Johnny Knox headed up field and was hit around the 20-25 the ball popped up and wouldn't you know it went right into the hands of the Eagles player who ran the 20 yards uncontested for the winning TD. What a way to put the Cherry on Top of what was the worst game I've ever seen. The only good thing about the fumble was that I didn't have to sit through that B.S. anymore. It was a GREAT call by the Philly coach. I'm not sure how much time he's been practicing that kick return defense. All I called was Kick Return but he definately had the right STATAGY to combat it. I think the play he picked was KICKOFF. What a genious call! What a way to end a miserable game.
