New GM Hopes Message Lifts Giants Mojo Together |
By Joey "Bag-a-Donuts" DiNunzio / New York Daily Snooze Sports Writer
It comes from a "Hopi" tribe in Native America. The New York Giant's new GM has decided he wanted this message painted above the exit to the field tunnel before next week's home game against the cross-town rival Jets.
It is a short, simple message with a "Giant"-sized meaning.
This message is supposed to remind the players, coaches, and staff alike that they are a team, first and foremost. Winning is achieved not by one single person, but by each individual individually together.
"One finger cannot lift a pebble."
After reading this, let's just hope our new GM can lift the Giants from mediocrity.
This is Joey B. DiNunzio, and "The donuts have been made". |

"New" York GM Promises Giant Turn-Around |
Dave "The Dude" Dalrymple / New York Tynes Sports Writer
Power ranking 30? Last in division? 1-6 record this season? What are you going to do?
GM David Yeingst didn't waste anytime feeding us from his table of ideas for the upcoming future of the last place Giants.
"We will start our new era of this enriched franchise by evaluating our roster from top to bottom. Anything can happen right now. We have a defense that prides itself on getting to the quarterback paired with a young and up-and-coming offense. I do like most of the pieces that are in place, but as we start our rebuilding process keep your eyes open for some roster moves being made early on in my tenure.
Given our team's situations at this point in 2014, I am extremely enthusiastic about the future of this team. The path won't be quick or easy, it never is, but I know the entire organization stands behind me when I say the New York Giants will once again become a team to be feared by the entire FCN league. Take my warning very seriously league because the New York Giants are coming for you."
I'd say confident is an understatement for our new GM. He does have his word cut out for him, but is he actually a cut above the rest? Stay tuned league..... |

Giants supplant Redskins; Take over NFC East |
Washington, DC - The Giants of NY traveled to DC to face the defending FCN Champions Washington Redskins and it was a defensive battle through and through. The Giants and Redskins tallied eight turnovers with the Giants garnering five from the Redskins in the way of five interceptions (four by Luke Drone and one by his replacement Juice Williams).
RB Clinton Portis of the Redskins was held to only 60 yards on 26 carries while the Giants defense held the Redskins passing attack to only 124 net yards passing in the game setting up the much needed divisional win for the Giants. "I had my worries coming into the game" stated Coach Duper. "Hell, Coach Tilly won the championship last year and playing against him is a very tough challenge but I told my guys to start the game that we could play with any team now...all we needed was just an inch so we can take a mile."
The Giants led all game and was surprised with a 10-0 halftime lead over the previous champions. "When I looked on the scoreboard and saw that the Redskins only had like 56 total yards I was like wow" stated LB DeMarcus Ware, who led the team in tackles with nine. The turning point in the game or the game stat which was the Redskins were 2/14 in 3rd down conversions. All coaches know that if you can't convert 3rd downs, then you are going to have a long day.
QB Joe Flacco returned to the starting QB position and looked rusty throwing three interceptions and ending the game with a 30.5 QB rating but he did throw a 20-yard strike to WR DJ Hall who capped that off with an additional 36 yard run for paydirt touchdown.
The Giants now take over 1st place in the NFC having beat the former champions. Tilly played great and the Redskins were hurt don't forget that but they played valiantly and hard! |

Flacco in new starting role leads Giants to victory |
Meadownlands, NJ - To be honest, I didn't think that I could get a good game out of my QB position but Joe Flacco stepped up big time this game and all but assured himself the starting position for the rest of the season. Flacco completed 23 of 34 for 295 and two touchdowns in a 34-13 win over the Houston Texans and their new coach who was very gracious in the loss.
The Texans played without their starting QB Palmer who was out with an injury. The Giants were also without their star RB Mendenhall. FA RB pickup Mike Hart started the game and kept the defense honestly rushing for 71 yards on 25 carries and scoring one time. Backup RB Brandon Jackson had two carries for 13 yards also.
WR Kelly caught 6 passes for 110 yards and 2 TDs while WR Anderson caught 5 passes for 73 yards. The offensive line didn't give up a sack mainly due to Tackles Brian Stamper and Sam Young who both had 8 and 7 pancakes respectively.
Defense was led by Taylor Mays who had 9 tackles while CB Morgan Trent had 7 tackles and 2 deflections. LBs Marcus Freeman, DeMarcus Ware and CB Pacman Jones all had interceptions in the contest. |

Giants open with close victory over Bears |
Chicago, IL - It was one of those games that when you left, you were scratching your head talking to yourself - What the hell happened here? Both teams combined for only 161 passing yards completing 18 of 63 including 5 interceptions. "This was a game from hell" stated Coach Duper. Both teams played, clawed and scratched their way into the 4th quarter and if not for a timely turnover the Bears would have won this game. Both teams combined for 355 yards total yards on offense and 6 turnovers. It was a defensive battle all game and a frustrating one at that.
The stats do not tell the tale of the game at all really but both teams finished the game and celebrated the great defensive play but both offenses are going to need help if they plan to do anything this year in the league. |
