Saints Slip by Bears
In a wild game the Saints pulled out the win to head to their first FCN Bowl game.

The game started out all Bears and they were up 10-0 before the Saints D woke up. The turning point seemed to be early in the 2nd quarter when the Saints were called for 2 consecutive offensive penalties and faced a 1st and 35. The Saints managed to convert that 1st down and all of a sudden he Saints could do no wrong. They quickly went up 17-10 with the help ofa botched fair catch attempt. The Bears were not to be denied however and managed to score a 2 min drill TD to tie up the game at the half.

The second half was equally fun but the Saints got some breaks and the Bears offense stalled. With the saints up by 1 deep in the 4th qrtr Lienart hit a wide open Coles for a long TD score and the Saints go up 8 and the Bears are in trouble with only 2 min left. I predicted OT with how the game had been back and forth but it was not to be as the Bears turned the ball over on downs and the Saints add a late FG to pad the final score.

Finner called a great game and t was in doubt right up until the last minute or so of play. It was a hell of a run for the Bears who really came from nowhere to the NFC championship game.

Saints Clinch NFC South
With a last second (lucky) win over the Bucs the Saints have clinched the South and are closing in on a bye inthe first round of the playoffs. With all the injuries we have suffered it would be best to wrap up the bye as soon as possible and then try to get healthy. A win over the Seahawks next week would clinch the bye.

Lienart Out for Regular Season
What was origianally diagnosed as only bruised ribs turned out to be a muscle tear so young QB Lienart will sit out the rest of the regular season.

In his weekly press conference coach Crokt had this to say, "At least we have a bit of a lead in our division. This is a tough loss the way Matt was playing but hopefully he will be back for the playoffs. As a team we all have to step up in order for us to clinch a bye in the first round. We have been hit hard by injuries this season but its just part of the territory."

Steve Smith a Saint
The Saints organization is happy to announce the acquisition of WR Steve Smith from the division rival Panthers. Smith adds to an already potent offense that includes QB Lienart, HB reggie Bush and TE Vernon Davis. We had to give up WR Antonio Bryant, young G Joseph and a 1st rnder but to get a playmaker of Smiths ability it is well worth it.
